A business guru and founder member of the Network Curry Club, where entrepreneurs trade advice over the dinner table, is the new president of Hounslow Chamber of Commerce.

Gurpreet Singh took over the reins from Ela Grabinska-Raubusch at the organisation's AGM last Thursday.

Before stepping down, Ela told members how she had enjoyed her time in charge, which included last May's centenary celebrations.

She said the highlights of the last year had been meeting Gordon Brown at Downing Street and judging GlaxoSmithKline's annual local health awards.

Gurpreet has been a member of the committee since 2007 and has experience of working with blue chip organisations from the US to India. He offers business advice to a number of companies through his firm Purple Orchard.

He thanked Ela for her efforts and said he was looking forward to the year ahead, which is bound to be a challenging one.

Ela was elected as one of two vice presidents, alongside Martin Goldthorpe, who runs website The Best of Hounslow.
